Outdoor Theatre Part of New Programme from the Palace

Mansfield Palace Theatre are looking forward to gradually reopening to its audiences and are thrilled to be planning its first Summer Season, including outdoor theatre events to be held in Titchfield Park, Mansfield, with productions that the whole family can enjoy, laugh at and join in with.

The events aim to bring theatre to the masses by having fun, sociable performances in popular spaces, such as Titchfield Park in the town centre. Public are encouraged to bring blankets and low backed chairs and of course enjoy a family picnic whilst enjoying a glorious welcome back to theatre,

under the stars. COVID -19 restrictions will be in place and social distancing required when seated.

If you have never seen Shakespeare before, then this is the way to do it! Lots of fun and laughter in a relaxed and friendly space, sharing sarnies and cider with your nearest and dearest. Kicking off the new season with outdoor theatre to entertain the whole family is popular theatre company, Oddsocks, who have performed on the Palace stage many times.

The first summer delight is ‘The Comedy of Errors’, two hours of Shakespeare’s servant and master chaotic comedy slapstick set to have you laughing all the way home. Pop the date in your calendar for some family fun time on Sunday 4 July, 5pm in Titchfield Park.

Closely followed by Chapterhouse Theatre Company, who are well known in the area for outdoor theatre events, they will perform ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Shakespeare’s tale of star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players make for an unforgettable performance suitable for all the family. Enjoy this wonderful evening of Shakespeare’s best loved comedy, complete with

beautiful Elizabethan costumes and a fantastic music to match. Early booking is advised for this popular tale (every child loves ‘Bottom’!), which is on Saturday 24 July, 7pm in Titchfield Park.
